STEP 8 (Kinda?): JOB HUNTING

 

This will be going on while you're doing all the other steps, so it wasn't fair to call this Step 8. This is why having an international recruiter is so important. Not only will they help you through the registration process but they will also inquire into what kind of clinic or jobs you are interested and try to find the one that suits you the best.

My recruiter provided me with a database of clinics looking for doctors and simply told me to provide her with a list of the ones I was interested in. She would touch base with their clinic and set up an interview. If you find one that you like and the interest is mutual, the recruiter will help look over your contract and help negotiate the details of it. This was honestly the most fun part of the process and was super casual throughout.

    Once you have obtained your CPSO license, there are just a couple more steps to go, all of which can be achieved online within an hour or so. STEP 3: Source Verification

  Source verification essentially is the Medical Council of Canada confirming the documents that you are submitting are genuine. This is arguably the most painstaking part of the process (besides the exam of course). There are a lot of documents that require verification, and it's important to plan ahead because the verification process can take upwards of 2 months. The process involves you getting copies of a document, meeting their submission requirements (which sometimes requires certification), paying the fee for source verification and then submitting it to the physiciansapply portal. Introduction

  So you've completed your FRACGP and are thinking of moving back to Canada. I did the same from 2021-2022 and what I hope to share with you is the mental and financial strain that I had to go through in order to get my credentials as a GP (Family Physician) to Canada, specifically Ontario.
