STEP 6: Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)

This step can be done as soon as you have passed your MCCQE1. I still don't know what the LMCC does, it states on the MCC website that "The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) grants a qualification in medicine known as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) to medical graduates who meet the eligibility criteria". The eligibility criteria is listed on the MCC website but basically as an Australian trained doctor, you would meet all the criteria (assuming you passed)

I personally see this as a money grab because they say you have to "apply" but all you do in the application is pay a fee which costs $250 CAD + $45 CAD to have the certificate couriered to you. Regardless of what its purpose is, you need this letter and certificate for the CPSO as you will need to submit proof of this later on.

Total cost of this step: $295 CAD
